The Cologne-based association "SOFRA - Queer Migrants e.V." supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, intersex and queer people with a history of flight and migration. It is the first LGBTIQ+ migrant self-organization in North Rhine-Westphalia to provide a safe and empowering space (SAFE_R-Spaces) for queer refugees and migrants.
SOFRA is the Arabic word for dining table, where everyone is welcome.
In addition to individual case support and counseling through case management, the services include the monthly Open Space and the SOFRA FLINTA* group (women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, trans and agender) as a important self-organized meeting and contact points.
In addition to target group-specific leisure activities and educational programs, the association also campaigns for the political interests of LGBTIQ+ people at a municipal and local level.
In addition, we are currently offering our own training courses for queer sensitization in the area of migrant* women's self-organizations.
